  10.        10.1  Appointments

  12.        The appointments feature allows the user to create a record
  13.        of appointments.  This screen allows the user to "Make" or
  14.        "Record" appointments.  Selecting "Quit" returns the user to
  15.        main menu screen.

  17.        Choosing "Make" brings up the Appointment Entry Screen.
  18.        When making appointments the user inputs the date, time, and
  19.        appointment details.  An opportunity is given to correct
  20.        errors, and then the user is asked if the appointment is
  21.        permanent or not.  A permanent appointment will be carried
  22.        over to a new database when a new year is created.  The user
  23.        is next asked if the appointment is "One Time" or
  24.        "Repetitive".  A repetitive appointment can be "Sub Weekly",
  25.        "Weekly", "Biweekly", "Monthly", or "Arbitrary".  A choice
  26.        other than "Arbitrary" allows the user to specify the
  27.        repetition as "Same Day of Week" or "Same Day of the Month".
  28.        If you have an appointment that is scheduled for the
  29.        alternate Tuesdays of each month, you would select "Same Day
  30.        of Week".  Likewise, for appointments on the 17th of each
  31.        month, select "Same Day of the Month".   Repetitive
  32.        appointments with no regular period are handled by the
  33.        "Arbitrary" selection.  The user is prompted for repeat
  34.        dates until all dates have been entered.  The user is then
  35.        asked if the appointments should continue to the end of the
  36.        year or some other end date.  Depending on the options
  37.        chosen, a variable delay will be encountered while the
  38.        additional appointments are silently created and entered
  39.        into the database.

  41.        Choosing "Record" allows the user to choose one of four
  42.        actions.  There are four choices are, "Delete", "Kept",
  43.        "Broken", "None".  Choosing None returns the user to "Make"
  44.        or "Record" function.  Selecting Delete allows the user to
  45.        delete one or more appointments from the database.  If the
  46.        selected appointment is a repetitive one, the opportunity is
  47.        given to leave the other occurrences alone, to view all
  48.        other occurrences and then decide upon deletion, or to
  49.        delete all of the other occurrences.  Choosing Kept allows
  50.        the user to mark a given appointment as kept in the
  51.        database.  Likewise, Broken allows the user to mark an
  52.        appointment as broken.  These features are useful in
  53.        generating an itinerary for only Pending appointments or for
  54.        reference purposes.  In these cases, the appointments are
  55.        not deleted from the database.

  74.        The calendars feature will display, in traditional style, a
  75.        calendar for any month for the years 100 through 2999.  This
  76.        is sometimes a useful feature for determining either past or
  77.        future date occurrences.  For example, you might like to
  78.        know what day of the week Christmas will be on in the year
  79.        2001, or on what day of the week your mother was born.  If
  80.        the year selected is the same as the database in use, all
  81.        appointments for the month selected will be indicated on the
  82.        calendar.  If the selected month is the current month,
  83.        today's date will be flashing.  The user is asked if more
  84.        detail is wanted.  Entering "Y" will then prompt for the day
  85.        of the month to display.  Enter a day as directed by the
  86.        prompt.  An overlay window will appear with the appointment
  87.        details for the selected date.  You can scroll up, down, or
  88.        quit viewing the information.  If the number of appointments
  89.        is large, all may not fit in one screen buffer.  In this
  90.        case you will be prompted to use the ESC key to obtain more
  91.        information.

  93.        10.3  Itinerary

  95.        The Itinerary feature provides a user selected set of
  96.        appointments for display on the screen or printed on the
  97.        printer, if equipped.  The user can select a single or range
  98.        of dates for the itinerary, as well as a choice of
  99.        appointment types, "All", "Broken", "Kept", Open", or
  100.        "Permanent".  A typical use of this feature is to print an
  101.        itinerary for the current week of all Open appointments.

  105.        The This Month feature is just a special case of the
  106.        Calendars features described above.  The difference is that
  107.        the user need not enter the month and year to display.  The
  108.        current month and year are automatically displayed.  All of
  109.        the calendar features described above apply to the This
  110.        Month feature.
